My name is Marlia Crick, an 18 year old former student of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School. I am currently employed at the Crick’s Funeral Home Ltd as a funeral director. I am an avid theater practitioner with a passion for creativity and an individual who enjoys working with the youth. I began to dance at the age of 10 years where I started doing cheerleading at my Primary school and a member of my primary schools dance troupe. Soon after I started high school, I became a member of the Silver Shadow Performing Arts Academy in 2014. In the year 2016, my school launched its first ever Theatre club in which I served as its Captain and led my team in prestigious productions such as performances for the Head of OECS and International Women’s Day. I have produced two of my own recipes which are featured in the St. Lucia’s Cassava recipe book and the CCSS schools recipe book. Other interests of mine included pageantry where I placed 2nd Runner up in the Miss CCSS Cardinals pageant in 2016. In 2019, upon my graduation from the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, I received many outstanding awards including the award for Theatre Arts (subject award) and the regional theatre arts award as well as international theatre awards. Throughout the years as a member of the Silver Shadow performing Arts Academy my passion for dance has driven me to perform at many national events such as Carnival, St. Lucia Independence, New Year’s, and hotel events. I have participated in productions such as Celebwa 2016, La Luna 2017, movements 2018, and the St. Lucia Story 2019. I have represented my country in Guadeloupe for cultural exchanges in 2016, the 2018 KCCU National Dance Festival in St. Vincent & the Grenadines and the 2019 Antigua International Folk Dance and Music festival. During the summer I am engaged in Costume building with the Just Us Kids Junior Carnival band where I have played mas with them for seven years and competed for two years for the title Junior Queen of the bands. In 2017 I placed 2nd with the costume Isis and in 2018 I became the winner of the Junior Queen of the bands title. I was also a featured dancer in the music video ‘’Blink of an Eye’ by Ken Hardy. Presently, I am one of the dance tutors assigned to the Kids Company Kindergarten class at the Silver Shadow Performing Arts Academy where I am able to inspire the academy’s youngest dancers. I am a woman of the Arts; a performer, a practitioner and an outstanding young woman of St. Lucian Arts and Culture.
